Senior Vice President - Loan Workout
Position responsibilities:
- Top loan workout executive responsible for engaging in managing, monitoring, and resolving the Bank's non-performing commercial loans. Plays a lead role by assisting In-House Counsel and Chief Credit Officer with loan workout review and collections concerns.
- Prepares various reports for review by CCO and the Board. Partners with and supports commercial lending team and their borrowers.
- Monitors and documents with memos all loan collections, delinquencies, and non-accrual process.
- Prepares written conclusions relating to workout situations for approval of In-House Counsel and CCO. Will participate in negotiations and related proceedings involving the most complex and difficult cases.
- Responsible for reviewing operational issues, verifies collateral, pursues collection opportunities, and refinance options.
- Direct contact with borrowers.
- Obtains and analyzes financial data.
- Maintains desired level of quality in the portfolio.
- Ensures that credit standards are being maintained consistent with those established in the lending policy.
- Reviews loans in portfolio to maintain quality consistent with bank's policies and guidelines.
- Maintain a current knowledge of federal and state regulations and laws affecting the bank.
- Ensures adherence to the institution's policies and procedures, consumer regulations, and federal and state regulations.
- Fosters positive relationships with all levels of management and other members of staff.
- Partners closely with attorneys in all workout matters including bankruptcies.
- Performs other related special projects as assigned.
Role qualifications:
- Must have a strong commercial background.
- Must execute the internal collection and portfolio management plan to meet company standards.
- Must partner with management team to ensure effective compliance to the bank's policies and procedures.
- Must develop and direct all lending and collection controls to ensure quality standards.
Essential skills and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, or related field
- Leadership: demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
- Planning: ability to think ahead and plan over a one- to two-year time span
- Management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level
- The ability to prepare reports and summarize the data.
- Technical skills in collection and large commercial portfolio management
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Commitment to the bank's values
- 10 years+ commercial banking knowledge
Valued but not required skills and experience:
- MBA, or other related certifications
- Experience in banking or other financial institution
- Experience with collection practices in banking.
